Our Story

I wanted to take a moment to share a little piece of my story and why I decided to start Diabeat and create our hypo-go gels. Living with type 1 diabetes for over 20 years has been quite the journey, filled with highs and lows—literally.

One of the most challenging aspects of managing diabetes, for me, has always been treating hypoglycemia (hypos). As someone who is mindful of what I put into my body, the idea of using products filled with artificial ingredients during these critical moments never sat right with me. I started a functional nutrition course and was mind blown and obsessed with looking into the ingredients and how nasty some of them were.

That’s why I decided to take matters into my own hands and create something different—hypo gels made with organic honey, fruit powders, and coconut water powder. Why? Because if I have to treat a hypo with sugar, why not choose ingredients that provide some additional benefits?

With an autoimmune condition already in the mix, the last thing I wanted to do was add to the inflammation with unnecessary additives. By harnessing the power of organic honey and natural fruit powders, these gels not only help raise my blood sugar levels swiftly but also provide a more nourishing option during those challenging moments.

But my motivation didn’t stop there. I also wanted to make life a little easier for parents and their young children who face the daily struggles of managing diabetes. I know how difficult it can be to convince a child to eat or drink something during a hypo episode. That’s why I created these gels to taste delicious, making it easier for children to consume them without a fuss. Plus, their convenient packaging makes them easy to carry around, ensuring parents have peace of mind wherever they go.

My journey with diabetes has taught me the importance of listening to my body and making conscious choices every step of the way. And through the creation of these hypo gels, I hope to empower others in the diabetic community to do the same—taking control of their health and well-being one hypo at a time.

Thank you for being a part of this journey with me. Together, we can make managing diabetes a little bit sweeter—quite literally!
